The Wurzels EMI New Zealand Releases

Record releases by The Wurzels outside the UK are poorly documented as this was something managed by EMI worldwide rather than something that the group themselves were able to control - so this may be a page that will be updated and expanded as more information becomes available!

So far it appears that EMI New Zealand released three singles and two albums of Wurzels material - unless you can tell us more of course!

12" Vinyl Album:

The Combine Harvester: EMC-C 126

This album came in a sleeve very much the same as the UK versions although with different record and manufacturing credits, catalogue number etc. The vinyl is identical to the UK release.

The example in this image comes with the New Zealand record store price tag!

12" Vinyl Album:

Golden Delicious 12" LP: EMC-C132.

The recording was the same as the UK release, as was the sleeve apart changes of wording to highlight the fact that that it was marketed in New Zealand. It appears that the UK printing plate has been used for the cover and they have just added the central line at the bottom (Marketed by...) and the catalogue number & price code box located top right. This 'additional' text is much clearer than the rest.

The wording 'available on tape' at the bottom left of the sleeve is probably part of the UK sleeve pressing printing plate. There is no evidence a tape was released in New Zealand - this wording was just not removed from the printing plate.

The matrix numbers on the vinyl are hand etched, and are NTS122A and NTS122B. There are no other markings in the run out groove.
